Everything is falling nicely into place for the Mifflinburg Community Christmas Tree Lighting...I'll consider it a pre-Christmas Miracle!
The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be on Sunday November 28, 2010 at 7pm in downtown Mifflinburg at the former Borough Building (333 Chestnut Street).
For safety we are closing down a portion of Chestnut Street for the Ceremony...Thank you Mifflinburg Police Department and Mifflinburg Fire Police for taking care of all that!
We will have seasonal music played by guitarist and singer Shawn Hoffmaster and lots of free refreshments will be available.
Our good friends at Mifflinburg's First Church of the Nazarene are donating 500 home baked cookies!!
And DC Coffee is providing Hot Chocolate and regular and decaf coffee! Our friends from Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church will be serving the coffee and hot chocolate.
If the weather turns bad the Mifflinburg Hose Company 3 had graciously offered us shelter in the Mifflinburg Hose Company building next door!
Keith Phelps and the elves at Country Farm and Home Gift and Garden Center are donating the Christmas Tree and doing all the tree trimming...so it will be spectacular to say the least!
Thank You to the Mifflinburg Ministerium for helping me plan the event and a HUGE Thank You!! to our Mifflinburg Borough Council for giving me the opportunity to bring this community event to life!
Downtown Mifflinburg has been without a Christmas Tree for 20 years! So Let's have a great turnout and make this an annual event.

The Mifflinburg Borough Council has graciously given me permission to use the Mifflinburg Park for a Jack-o-Lantern Contest.
It is scheduled for Wednesday October 27, 2010 from 7pm to 8pm. Jack-o-Lanterns will be judged at 7:30pm. Just bring your clean, carved Jack-o-Lantern to the Park on 5th Street.
It's our first year so we'll figure out how to line everything up when we all get there. I am thinking of lining them all up on both sides of a path through the park so we can all walk down the path and see everyone's handiwork!
There will be award ribbons and age categories.
***Please NO candles or flames.***
We will use battery powered lights only in the Jack-o-Lanterns. Carved pumpkins only, as painted pumpkins will not be visible in the dark.

Mifflinburg Safety Fair
Hats off to Mifflinburg Police Officer Ross Mitchell for putting together an
amazing Safety Fair! The event was in the Mifflinburg Park and Pool and we
served up over 600 hot dogs and over 300 Rita's Italian Ices!! I spent some time
in the Dunk Tank and offered up $50 to anyone who could dunk me three
consecutive throws in a row. A fool and his money were soon parted as I gave the
$50 to a 9 year old who sunk me on his first three throws!! Dunk Tank proceeds
went to the Mike Hobbins Recovery Fund...we raised $236.00 for that great cause.
And we had about 150 people take advantage of the free swimming in the Mifflinburg Pool!
Our mission for this event was to introduce Mifflinburg residents to all those who quietly keep them safe on a day-to-day basis.
We processed about 100 Child ID Kits that included the child's fingerprints and a DNA sample.
